We’re getting ready for APÜSHI FEST (Family Festival), to celebrate the first year of existence of our Wayuu ethnic school, KOLEEJIA MIICHI AHAVA, in Ranchería Ipamana. In this important date, the 56 #WayuuKids of Ipamana commemorate the historic day, when they exchanged classes under a tree to school classes under a roof in a building installation properly furnished, and with a certified education, a soccer field, school supplies in hand, and the promise of a better future.
Our next step is to provide a food pantry and a load of groceries to ensure the school children a receiving a healthy meal, clean water, and a snack during the school day. During the festival we will be delivering the cement and blocks for the construction of the food pantry, and we’ll be taking groceries to fill it up, as well as groceries for the 200 families that are expected to attend the festival. During the festival we’ll serve hot dogs and refreshment for all.
We’ve received notice that the kids are very excited and anticipating this date, July 13, 2019 to celebrate #APUSHIFEST. This is the first time in their history that they will be able to enjoy a festival like this one. We’ll have inflatables, music, obstacle course, sac races, lots of fun games and raffles, live music and we’ll be distributing clothes, flip flops, and groceries.
